About Harbour View Primary Academy
Harbour View Primary Academy is a two-form entry academy with 420 pupils, located in Walker on the north bank of the River Tyne. We are part of the Northern Gateway Academies Trust, a multi-academy trust serving communities across Tyneside and Northumberland.
Our school serves a diverse community: 65% of our pupils are White British, 15% South Asian, and 10% Black British, with the remainder from a range of other backgrounds. 38% of our pupils are eligible for Pupil Premium, and 16% have identified Special Educational Needs. We see this diversity as one of our greatest strengths.
Our last Ofsted inspection, in 2024, rated us as 'Requires Improvement'. Under Mr Okafor's leadership, we have taken rapid action on every recommendation. We are on an exciting improvement journey, with rising standards in reading and maths, a transformed behaviour culture, and a specialism in computing and STEM that prepares children for the digital world.
