STEM Lab Opens with Visit from Local Tech Leaders

Harbour View's new STEM lab was officially opened last Friday in a ceremony attended by local tech leaders, trust directors, parents and pupils.

The lab features 30 workstations with age-appropriate coding software, a 3D printer, a set of programmable robots for KS1, micro:bit kits for KS2, and a green screen area for digital media projects.

Mr Okafor said: 'This lab is a statement of intent. We want our children to see themselves as the coders, engineers and innovators of the future. The tech industry on Tyneside is booming, and our pupils should be part of that story.'

The lab was funded through the Northern Gateway trust's capital programme and contributions from Sage, Accenture and the Reece Foundation.
